[REDACTED] is a top-down shooter and an action roguelike reminiscent of Hades. Developed by Striking Distance Studios, this action shooter pits you against a never-ending swarm of monsters coming for you.  

In [REDACTED], you play as a modest prison guard in an overrun penitentiary on Jupiter’s Icy moon Callisto. The only way you get past these infected inmates is to get to the last escape pod and get out alive. But it wouldn’t be so easy as you have to fight the hordes of inmates, rivals, and angry coworkers on your way to escape. 

A daring escape like no other 

[REDACTED] forces you to fight hordes of enemies or die along with the infected inmates in a state-of-the-art penitentiary you once called your office. Fight through the hordes of infected zombies to catch the last escape pod in that place. But you’re not the only one looking for an out as there are your rivals, crazy coworkers, violent gangsters, and many more who share the same goal. 

The core gameplay revolves around shooting your way through the penitentiary with the dozens of weapons left there by your old squad. With every death, you gain better upgrades, bigger weapons, and a stronger will that will help you rise to the top and achieve escape. When you’ve perfected your build, battled through the bosses, and ran through your rivals, then you’re bound for the pod. 

The game’s visuals highlight the future punk aesthetic of the game with its unique presentation of an arcade-punk soundtrack mixed with the vibrant sci-fi settings of the fast-paced action that ensues. While the overall game is decent, some players have voiced concern about the weapon system needing a finished run which can be infuriating for some. Moreover, the game can be difficult and players are bound to die over and over to win.

Its engaging combat, intricate upgrades, and high replayability make it appealing to fans of the genre. However, its punishing difficulty and restrictive weapon system may frustrate some players. For those willing to embrace its challenges, this game offers an intense and adrenaline-fueled escape story.
